Akershus University Hospital becomes a partner in Health2B and ramps up public-private collaboration on medical innovation.

Located in the Health2B collaboration arena at Oslo Science Park (Forskningsparken), the innovation centre will make it as easy as possible for industry to engage with the hospital. The aim is to help companies develop, test and validate new medical products and artificial intelligence (AI).

“If we are to succeed in meeting the patients of the future, we must adopt new technology and new medicines far more quickly than we do today. But for industry to develop tools that actually work in everyday clinical practice, they need access to real-world testing and secure health data. That is what we are now making possible,” says Janne Pedersen, Director of the Division of Diagnostics and Technology at Ahus.

Through its establishment at Health2B, the Ahus innovation centre is making four services available to industry:

  • Real-World Evidence (RWE): Clarifying real needs in specialist healthcare and documenting the effect of new products in clinical practice.

  • Annotated and anonymised datasets: Preparing and providing high-quality health data for the development, training and validation of data-driven products and AI models.

  • Technical testing of security and performance: Verifying that solutions meet the strictest requirements for data security, robustness and performance.

  • Clinical trials: Facilitating and conducting clinical trials in real hospital settings.

A neutral arena for building trust and momentum

Health2B at Oslo Science Park brings together stakeholders from the public, private and non-profit sectors to develop a new culture and methodology for collaboration.

“We are delighted that Ahus will take an active role in the partnership and contribute to the further development of Health2B. We welcome the Ahus Innovation Centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI²) to the Health2B community. Their presence and concrete services give industry a gateway to hospital data and clinical trials in real-world settings. It is an exciting initiative to accelerate public–private collaboration,” says Elen Høeg, CEO of Health2B.

The establishment at Health2B begins immediately. The innovation centre at Ahus will continually invite industry, academic communities and start-ups to professional forums, roundtable discussions and pilot projects.
